HEY, FRIEND! SO GLAD YOU STOPPED BY.

MY STORY

Stories have power. There is something magical in how the words of a story can instantly build a connection with people across the street, on the other side of the country or even the world.

My earliest childhood memories are of playing dress up with my sisters in my Grandma Hannon’s closet, complete with her jewelry and a stolen tube of lipstick from her lace-lined vanity. And while I always admired Grandma Hannon’s magical closet, it was my Grandma KK’s journals that stole my heart from a very young age. She wrote in her journal every single day of her life. However short or long the entry, every day was accounted for. She truly loved living, and peppered the pages of her journal with both the mundane, and the extraordinary events in her life. Like my grandma, I’ve always been a lover of words, and find my thoughts best expressed in written form.

In the hallways of my high school, friends would always come to me for help responding to important text messages (ok, usually to break up with boys). I’d take their phone in my hands and a few taps later, they’d all say the same thing… “Oh my god, how did you do that?! It’s perfect!”. I can quickly read people’s emotions, and immediately tune into what they care about. I can finish people’s sentences, knowing just what they’re trying to express. I’ve always instinctively known what to say, and how to say it.

Fast forward to 2016, I started with my own Instagram fashion account, and quickly found myself managing the accounts of several female led businesses. Essentially, it felt like texting for my friends again during lunch and between class… jumping into someone else’s world, penning the words as if they were their own. The longer I surrounded myself with female entrepreneurs, the more hooked on the lifestyle I became. I gained unique, deep insight into the realities of running a business - good, bad and ugly. Entrepreneurship is scary, you’re always working, trying to perfect your craft, constantly dealing with problems and keeping your business running. You’re never really off. But I also saw the ability these women had to put goodness into the world, to help people with their services, consciously designed products, and their brand messaging. I could find stories in their work and their goals that the owner struggled to see themselves, bringing it to life with beautiful visuals and quippy captions. While I loved the impact I was creating, at 26 I wasn’t quite ready to take the leap myself to do it full time.

I've been on a few different career journeys in my life since then, most recently becoming a nurse. I felt called into nursing during the pandemic. Helpless as our world was shut down and crumbling, I wanted to start a career that would be stable for me, and allow me to help people. While I love the act of nursing and take great pride in what I learned during my time in the field, it was costing me my sanity.

As a nurse working for several different massive corporations, I had no agency, no control, no freedom - all of the values I’d always admired about entrepreneurship. I was still managing social media accounts as a side hustle, and after dedicating three years of my life to pursue nursing only to realize I wasn’t building the life I wanted to lead, the choice to go all-in on my own business was obvious. It was time to double down on the thing I’d always loved doing most, writing for and promoting powerful women, while becoming one myself.

I launched Hannon Haus for the strong women I am honored to support through my services, and in honor of the strong women that raised me.

I do it for my Grandma Hannon, from whom I inherited my love of gold jewelry and blazers.

For my mom, Beth, a strong single mother who worked multiple jobs, made every house feel like a home, and in the face of adversity remains the most positive person I know.

I’m not taking ‘no’ for an answer anymore, like my sister Kelly has taught me.

I’m committed to truly enjoying my life, inspired by my sister Kaitlin.

And as always, I’ll be writing stories with my whole heart, just like my Grandma KK. This business is testament to every strong woman out there choosing herself, her community and her mission. When women support each other, we are able to achieve great things.

With love,

Molly
